Why does Georgetown experience this variety of pests?
Georgetown has three very different kinds of ground in one city. The west side is Hill Country limestone and cave country, ideal for scorpions and spiders. The east side is newer construction on open prairie, where fire ants move in fast. And the North and South San Gabriel rivers meet right in the middle of town, giving mosquitoes plenty of shaded water. Georgetown also grew from about 28,000 residents in 2000 to more than 67,000 by 2020, so new subdivisions keep disturbing ground right next to established neighborhoods.
I live in an older home near the square. Are pests harder to control?
They can be, but they’re very manageable with the right approach. Many of Old Town’s historic homes sit on pier-and-beam foundations, and the crawlspace underneath is the easiest way in for roaches and rodents. Add mature trees touching the roofline and decades of small gaps around trim and utility lines, and older homes have more entry points than new builds. We pay extra attention to crawlspace vents, foundation gaps and the roofline, and we’ll show you the openings that matter most to seal.
Do you service Sun City?
Yes. Sun City is one of the Georgetown communities we serve most. Most of our visits are exterior perimeter treatments, so you don’t need to be home unless you’d like an interior treatment that day. Scorpions are the most common concern we hear about there, and the limestone landscaping and rock borders around many homes are a big reason why. Regular perimeter treatment and closing up door gaps make a real difference.
