How long does attic restoration take?
Most homes take one to two days: removal and disinfection first, then air sealing, radiant barrier and new insulation. Larger attics or heavy contamination can take longer.
Do I need to leave the house?
Usually not. The work happens in the attic, and we seal off the attic access so dust stays out of the living space.
What R-value should a Central Texas attic have?
Many older homes around Austin are far below current recommendations. We measure your existing insulation during the inspection and quote the depth needed to bring it up to standard.
Is attic restoration covered by insurance?
Sometimes. Some homeowner policies cover sudden damage from animals but not long-term wear. We provide photos and a written scope of work you can send to your insurance company.
Can you add insulation without removing the old?
If the old insulation is clean, yes. If it’s contaminated with droppings or urine, it should come out first. Covering it traps the odor and contamination under new material.
